“Everybody here wants you to succeed and be happy.”
As a Florida transplant, Amanda McQueen had never experienced a Midwestern winter before—a “real winter.” For her, 50 degree temperatures meant donning parkas indoors and warming up her car while clutching hot cocoa in front of the space heater.
“I lived in Florida my whole life and I didn’t know how to deal with snow,” said Amanda.
SWC’s employees graciously showed her the ropes on how to drive and deal with the snow.
“Everyone cared so much about getting me ready for this winter and it really made me feel like I had a family away from home. Everybody here wants you to succeed and be happy and they are really focused on team dynamic and employee morale.”
That team dynamic is what makes SWC such a fun place to work. Along with working on a wide variety of projects together, SWC’s myriad social activities throughout the year allow employees to really get to know each other outside the office.
Employees loved the holiday party last year, where SWC treated everyone to dinner and drinks on the top story of a hotel. “SWC bought hotel rooms for everyone and I just thought that was really great and was something they didn’t have to do,” Amanda said.
SWC has also treated employees to a boat cruises, golf outings, Cubs games, and WhirlyBall tournaments, to name a few.
