Technology Succeeds With Community
I love this time of year. Sure, it can be filled with a lot of hustle and bustle, but it’s also a time where we reflect on what’s most important and spend time with those we care about. That’s why I wanted to share a cute video of the students from Alain Locke Charter School. They recently came to visit SWC Technology Partners this holiday season to sing carols and tour our office.
At SWC, we value community outreach, and that doesn’t just mean writing a check to some non-profit that we have no relationship with. Through SWC, our employees have built a strong kinship with the faculty, staff and students of Alain Locke Charter School, and throughout the year we participate in various functions with them, including Reading Angels and the Robotics Club. Alain Locke is making some great strides in closing the achievement gap to help students not only compete nationally, but globally and it’s incredible to be involved in their mission.
As the weather began to change, we learned about a need from our friends at Alain Locke. Many of the students were lacking proper outdoor attire for the impending winter. Can you imagine not having a warm coat in the midst of our treacherous Chicago winter? It’s one of the countless things I know I take for granted. So, as an organization, we decided to host a coat drive. Our employees pulled their resources and we were able to purchase a coat for every child that needed one. It was so exciting to see everyone pitch in and when we had collected all the coats, I was honored to be a part of the distribution. It’s a perfect reminder that technology succeeds with community.
As we near the end of the year, I’d like to wish you and yours a warm and safe holiday season. To learn more about SWC’s community service initiatives, please visit: www.swc.com/community-outreach.
