Microsoft Teams and Slack are both major communication platforms and offer the same core functionality however, there are plenty of features that set the two platforms apart. Slack has long been the communication solution of choice, but the introduction of Microsoft Teams is heating-up the competition.

Recently, Microsoft announced that Teams has 20 million daily active users, a 53 percent increase since July. Teams is now out-pacing Slack, which reported having 12 million daily active users

The Teams usage disclosure comes from the announcement to transition Skype for Business to Teams. After July 31, 2020, users will no longer be able to access Skype for Business.

Recently added features and tools for Teams also continue to enhance the platform’s growth. This year’s Microsoft Ignite conference also revealed many exciting updates coming to Teams in 2020. These features are designed to respond to evolving needs and to help increase collaboration and productivity.

Teams is the glue for the Microsoft’s user’s experience. It affords a fantastic mobile experience. And when you couple that with the compliance and security possibilities within the Microsoft stack, IT and security executives are put in a position to say ‘yes’ instead of the typical ‘no.’ Teams is game changing and we here at BDO are seeing customers embrace the solution rapidly.
