Oak Brook, IL | March 11, 2009 – IT providers SWC Technology Partners, a leading provider of innovative technology solutions to the small and midsize Chicago business market, has won the Microsoft Compete to Win award for the Midwest district. The award goes to the Microsoft partner that shows outstanding business performance and excels at expanding the use of new Microsoft technologies. It also qualifies SWC to compete for Microsoft’s Central Region Partner of the Year award.

SWC, an IT consulting firm with roots going back 30 years, has been a Microsoft Gold Certified partner since 1991. SWC has consistently earned recognition and awards from Microsoft and is a preeminent Microsoft solution provider within Microsoft’s Midwest District within the Central Region. The Midwest District spans Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin and includes more than 8,000 partner firms.

SWC won the Microsoft Compete award for its work with a customer that planned to replace its current sales force automation and help desk technology, and wanted to implement a solution that would serve as the center of its enterprise data model. Before approving the move to a Microsoft-based solution, the client wanted to see a custom solution tailored to their specific needs.

In just three weeks time, SWC developed a demonstration environment that expertly integrated Microsoft CRM, SQL Server 2005, PerformancePoint, Office 2007 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. This proof of concept allowed the company to make an informed commitment to the Microsoft stack and resulted in one of the largest mid-market Microsoft license purchases in the U.S. in 2008.

“SWC has unsurpassed expertise in the Microsoft platform, and winning the Compete award lends credence to this,” said Bob Knott, president, SWC Technology Partners. “Our team’s outstanding and successful approach to winning this business earned the attention of Microsoft, which has honored us today with the Compete to Win Award. All of us at SWC are grateful for this award and remain committed to working harder than ever to help companies uncover greater business value through the innovative use of information technology.”

“SWC Technology Partners demonstrated the kind of ingenuity, focus and determination that it takes to win a significant piece of business,” Mark Kornegay, Central Region General Manager, for Microsoft. “SWC Technology Partners is a valued partner of ours and leads the way in driving adoption of the Microsoft platform.”
